Breakthrough is looking for a Deputy Director – Curriculum & Leadership Development. The person will be responsible for giving first level of technical leadership, strategy development, program quality and program development. The detailed job description is as follows:
Job Description-
Technical leadership, alignment and standards
- Provides high quality technical assistance to Breakthrough (BT) programs with content, messaging, development of tools, methodologies and approaches, and quality benchmarks
- Design and develop training manuals, IEC material and other audio visual public education material for various stakeholders
- Facilitate regular training and capacity building support on gender and rights issues for Breakthrough staff across projects to help meet program outcomes.
- Facilitate senior level training’s with external audiences on gender, sexuality, laws, rights, sexual harassment for corporate, INGOs, government etc.
- Promote Breakthrough’s technical expertise among external audiences on gender, sexuality, laws, rights, sexual harassment for corporates, INGOs, government etc.
- Supervise and lead a team of consultants and Breakthrough project staff for specific projects where Breakthrough is providing technical expertise.
- Sets Program Quality Standards for BT capacity building initiatives based on Strategic Programming, long term goals, M&E and knowledge management systems
- Ensure that Breakthrough contributes to and learns from gender, education, rights and empowerment discourse nationally and internationally
- Supports development of Program Implementation Plans (PIP) and project reports aligned with contractual agreements with donors and approved Logical Framework, and quality implementation
- Advise Senior Leadership Team on gender, sexuality and rights policies and trends at a national and global level.
Strategy Development and Program Quality
- Support the implementation of Curriculum and Leadership teams strategy
- Supports roll out process for each pilot in close coordination with other Breakthrough verticals.
- Review the status of the program activities as per the PIPs and take action as appropriate to ensure that they are undertaken timely and with quality.
Program Development
- Conceptualizes, designs and develops cutting edge programs that align Breakthrough mandate and mission
- Address any queries, information sought on the C&LD program and appropriately coordinate within the unit and with state teams to provide information in time
- Coordinate with Breakthrough’s resource mobilization team and appropriately facilitate development and sharing of the quality proposals by providing design inputs, leading the proposal development work
Support Oversight and Management of the Curriculum and Leadership team
- Lead and coordinate the work of the C&LD team, building a dynamic team that will be a resource to the organization
- Orients, supervises, coach and mentor direct team members, ensuring they deliver their targets and objectives and develop their career pathway and organizational succession plans as appropriate
- Develops and implement management tools and processes to enhance the performance of the C&LD team
- Ensures close coordination and cooperation with colleagues to achieve synergy and impact across programs and geographic areas of operation
- Ensures that appropriate systems and procedures are in place to handle all C&LD team functions
- Provides supervisory support and guidance to the C&LD team and provides relevant support/manage for Breakthrough project staff trainers and community mobilizers at states.
Monitoring, Learning, and Knowledge Management
- Outlines the knowledge management strategy for C&LD that consolidates Breakthrough’s models, lessons, tools, modules etc
- Develops and refines indicators to measure success of Breakthrough programming
- Lead efforts to bring out quality publications on policy and research papers on Breakthrough’s approach, model, and pedagogy.
- Organize seminars and conferences for dissemination of Breakthrough’s work curriculum, and impact with external audiences
Representation, Networking and Advocacy
- Collaborate with other program teams to design, implement, and advocate
- Maintains a network with women’s rights moment, UN Agencies, Government officials, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society.
- Identifies agencies and institutions whether governmental, non-governmental or private that will bring strategic value to Breakthrough and develops collaborative relationships
- Lead and support efforts to represent C&LD work in various media/social media platforms
- Enables Breakthrough to influence policy change through diverse mechanisms
Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in Education or Gender Studies, or Social Science or Social Work or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- At least 15 years’ experience of which at least 5 years’ experience in leading Training and Development programs in a senior management position.
- High level of knowledge and demonstrable experience in leading national and international leadership programming and technical support to large scale education programs for adolescents; women; NGO partners, INGO and government.
- Proven experience in design and implesmentation of large scale capacity building programs.
- Experience of working in a multi-sector development organizations is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of education program management
- High level of commitment to the principles of development, the organizational mission and the empowerment of communities
- Passion for gender equity, sexuality, rights, empowerment and diversity.
- Fluent in Hindi and English
- Self-starter; team player and quality oriented
