Breakthrough (BT) is looking for a Deputy Director – Capacity Development. The person will be responsible for the development of first level of technical leadership and capacity of the BT teams.

1. Key Functions/Responsibilities:Technical leadership, alignment and standards

  • Design and implement learning needs and resource assessment
  • Planning, designing and budgeting for rolling out capacity development programs
  • Facilitate regular training and capacity building around issues around gender, rights and sexuality for Breakthrough staff across projects to help meet program outcomes.
  • Supervise and lead a team of consultants and Breakthrough project staff for specific projects where Breakthrough is providing technical expertise.
  • Sets Program Quality Standards for BT capacity building initiatives based on Strategic rollout and knowledge based strategies.
  • Ensure that Breakthrough contributes to the learning space in gender, education, rights and empowerment discourse nationally and internationally.
  • Supports development of Program Implementation Plans (PIP) and project reports aligned with contractual agreements with donors and approved Logical Framework, and quality implementation

2. Program development

  • Review the status of the program activities as per the PIPs and take action as appropriate to ensure that they are undertaken timely and with quality
  • Conceptualizes, designs and develops cutting edge programs that align Breakthrough mandate and mission
  • Ensures close coordination and cooperation with colleagues to achieve synergy and impact across programs and geographic areas of operation
  • Provides supervisory support and guidance to the state team and provides relevant support/manage for Breakthrough project staff trainers and community mobilizers at states.
  • Good understanding of program budgets and activity implementation.

3. Representation, Networking and Advocacy

  • Collaborate with other program teams to design, implement and advocate
  • Identifies agencies and institutions whether governmental, non-governmental or private that will bring strategic value to Breakthrough and develops collaborative relationships.

4. Requirements:  

  • A Master’s degree in Education or Gender Studies, or Social Science or Social Work or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • At least 15 years of experience in development organizations of which at least 5 years’ experience in leading, Training and Development programs.
  • High level of knowledge and demonstrated experience in leading national level technical support to large scale training programs especially for empowering adolescents and women
  • Proven experience in design and implementation of large scale capacity building programs.
  • Passion for gender equity, sexuality, rights, empowerment and diversit
  • Fluent in Hindi and English (verbal & written)
  • Self-starter; team player and quality oriented
