School offers a crucial space to nurture a generation of young people who reject gender-based violence and discrimination.
We work closely with the school education system of Punjab and Odisha to bring in Gender Transformative Education. We connect with every part of the system from policies, curriculum and pedagogy to teacher training and parental engagement to challenge the stereotypes and power dynamics which perpetuate violence.

- Work with school leaders and administrators to create gender-equitable schools
- Forge strong partnerships with government and Civil Society Organisations
- Create safe spaces for students, teachers and all staff
- Empower teachers with gender-equitable teaching skills and behaviours
- Inspire parents to value and invest in their daughters
Our content integrates into subjects in the middle and senior school syllabus. Activities and reflections inspire adolescents to recognise and question regressive gender attitudes and behaviours and to push for change in their schools, homes and communities.

By 2028, Breakthrough’s efforts at systems change through a Gender Transformation Education System will have trained 66,000 and impacted 4 million adolescents. A gender equal world is on the rise.
