Breakthrough is looking for a Senior Manager – Donor Reporting and Communication who will be responsible for leading the organisation’s donor reporting function, ensuring timely, high-quality, and accurate reporting to all institutional, corporate, and philanthropic donors. This role will be pivotal in strengthening donor relationships through effective communication and stewardship, as well as in ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Donor Reporting & Compliance
- Lead the end-to-end donor reporting process, ensuring reports are accurate, comprehensive, and delivered on time.
- Coordinate across programme, finance, Research and Evaluation and communications teams to compile relevant data, narratives, and financials.
- Establish and maintain internal systems, templates, and timelines for reporting to multiple donors.
- Ensure donor reporting adheres to contractual requirements, compliance standards, and brand guidelines.
Donor Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for all donor communication and engagement related to reporting.
- Manage donor relationships by providing regular updates, addressing queries, and ensuring a seamless experience for all donor partners.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with donor focal points to enhance trust and collaboration.
Donor Communications
- Develop and oversee donor communication strategies to strengthen relationships and improve retention.
- Create and maintain donor engagement SOPs, annual engagement plans, and related documentation.
- Curate and share organisational updates, impact stories, and other content tailored for donor audiences.
- Ensure all donor-facing communication aligns with the organisation’s brand voice, values, and positioning.
- Support proposal writing wherever required
Knowledge Management & Quality Assurance
- Maintain a central repository of all donor reports and related documentation for reference and audit purposes.
- Build team capacity on donor reporting formats, expectations, and compliance.
- Review and quality-check all reports to ensure alignment with organisational tone, strategy, and donor priorities.
Strategic Contribution
- Provide insights from donor reports to strengthen organisational storytelling, positioning, and fundraising strategy.
- Collaborate with the resource mobilisation team to ensure reporting aligns with donor engagement and retention strategies.
Skills, Competencies & Experience Required:
- 9-10 years of professional experience in donor reporting, donor communications, proposal development, or development communications.
- Postgraduate degree in Development Studies, Communications, English, or related field is preferred
- Strong writing, editing, and data interpretation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience in managing donor relationships and working with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
