According to the National Commission for Women, post 23rd March 2020 when the lockdown due to the COVID -19 pandemic was declared in India, 291(only email complaints) complaints of domestic violence were received in March itself. There were 302 complaints in February and 270 in January.
The COVID 19 pandemic has left the vulnerable even more vulnerable. For women and girls, with impact like increase in domestic violence and unfair burden of work at home, the pandemic is not just a health crisis. Our fight for a more equitable and just world for women and girls will have to become stronger and bigger and in this time of crisis, we need your support more than ever!
