Since March 2021, we’re working in collaboration with the governments of Punjab to work with adolescents to end gender-based discrimination and change how gender is viewed from an early age. We work with schools, teachers, parents and state leadership to introduce a gender lens into the subject syllabus. As we are getting more involved in teacher training and creating content for the teachers on gender equity and the curriculum they need to develop, we are thinking of new ways to enhance this input.
Breakthrough has created students supplementary textbooks on gender equity, teachers resource guide as well as audio visual teaching aids for teachers to access through the app named DIKSHA. DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) is a national platform for school education, an initiative of National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT), Ministry of Education. We will provide ready reference materials to 23000 teachers and ensure the essence of the gender equity curriculum is imbibed by students and practised during classroom interaction. The platform will also be used by teachers to share self assessment forms which will be used for monitoring purposes. To increase adoption and usage of the project tools within the platform, regular messages, polls, quizzes, teacher highlights, recognition and awards will be done on a regular basis.A state and district wise dash board of program implementation and its effectiveness will be created and shared with the leading government departments for further action.
