A Better Tomorrow Starts With You Today
Join us in supporting the dreams of girls in some of the most gender-discriminatory areas of India.
Together, we can work towards:
- Less school dropouts
- More girls in the workforce
- Delay in early marriages
You have the chance to create a meaningful impact that will benefit generations to come.
In India, girls lose out on every phase of their lives because society expects them to live by the roles it has assigned. They are seen as homemakers and caregivers, fuelled by the false notion that it is what women are inherently good at. So they are sent to government schools while their brothers get private education, pulled out of school to be married off (1 in 5!), and cornered into traditional roles, keeping them away from the workforce.
At Breakthrough Trust, we see a world where women and girls get equal opportunities but first, we need to change the way society sees them. As beliefs turn progressive, society moves to support women’s potential to learn, grow and succeed. We’re in 6 states of India, working with young people, their families, schools and important members of their communities to create an enabling and supportive environment where girls can thrive.
You are an equally important part of this vision. Your contribution can help us build a world where gender norms support girls to dream, aspire and reach their full potential!

Breakthrough is an organisation that you can trust to put your money to the best possible use.
We are extremely focused on ensuring that your contribution brings high impact, and that the bulk of it is spent on funding programmes. Our administrative costs at 12% are well below the Indian non-profit sector average, as we are extremely conscious of spending your money as effectively as possible.
Every donation affirms your faith in us, and we are committed to staying accountable and transparent.
We use mass media to change mindsets on a large scale the government’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign which uses our communication material, is one such example of changing cultural norms and mindsets. Our Bell Bajao campaign reached over 150 million people and brought the issue of domestic violence to the fore for the first time.
Breakthrough’s in-depth training of girls, boys, families and community members catalyses leadership within the community to change attitudes and behaviours and create an enabling environment where women and girls can reach their full potential. Enable us to bring grassroots level change in some of the most deeply affected areas of the country.
