#TodayforTomorrow - A Better Today Starts with you Today
Join us in supporting the dreams of girls in some of the most gender-discriminatory areas of India.
Together, we can work towards:
- Less school dropouts
- More girls in the workforce
- Delay in early marriages
You have the chance to create a meaningful impact that will resonate for generations to come.
In India, girls going to schools remains an exception, not a norm. Adolescent girls in India are forced to drop out of school, for reasons ranging from early marriage to domestic work. With the pandemic, this issue has worsened, with 20 million more girls being projected to be out of school as a result of it.
In times of crisis, it’s often women and girls’ whose needs suffer the most. At Breakthrough India, we believe that in order for women’s needs to be prioritised, we need to change the way society sees women and girls. This involves working with families, schools, communities and more, in order to create an enabling and supportive environment where girls can thrive.
And to do this, we need your help. Let’s make education for girls a priority and keep more girls in school!
We at Breakthrough are extremely focused on ensuring that your contribution brings high impact, and that the bulk of it is spent on funding programmes. Our administrative costs at 12% are well below the Indian non-profit sector average, as we are extremely conscious of spending your money as effectively as possible.
Every donation received is an affirmation of your faith in us, and we are committed to maintaining the highest levels of accountability and transparency always.
We use mass media to change mindsets on a large scale – the government’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign which uses our communication material, is one such example of changing cultural norms and mindsets. Our Bell Bajao campaign reached over 150 million people and brought the issue of domestic violence to the fore for the first time.
Breakthrough’s in-depth trainings of girls, boys, families and community members aim to catalyse leadership within the community so as to change individual behavior and to create an enabling environment where women and girls can reach their full potential. On ground efforts across 17 districts and 4000 villages enable us to bring grassroots level change in some of the most deeply affected areas of the country.
