DEEP TRANSFORMATION.

Programmes.

Our work on the ground.
DEEP TRANSFORMATION

For two and a half decades, we’ve been on a mission to make violence and discrimination against women and girls unacceptable. Our approach is centred on dismantling and transforming the culture that allows violence. We believe that a tectonic shift of this magnitude is only possible when an entire generation grows up living in gender equality. We work with adolescents in schools and communities to mould beliefs and ideas around gender before they solidify into behaviour. As these young people learn to lead, negotiate and collaborate, a new culture of equality, dignity and justice begins to rise. Awareness building with educators, parents and village elders through training, media and communications helps build a supportive environment for our young changemakers.

How Deep Transformation works

Our core intervention is a life-skills based gender equality curriculum for 11 to 18 year olds called ‘Taaron Ki Toli’. It has made a difference to xxxxx  young lives by helping them recognise violence and discrimination around them. It enables them to voice their own aspirations and negotiate for them to be fulfilled. The programme follows an  age continuum.

Beginning Early: The gender-equity curriculum for ages 11 to 14 uses interactive facilitation in schools and communities to identify violence and discrimination, teach negotiation skills and build agency around aspirations and dreams.

Older Adolescents: The program for 15 to 18 year olds focuses on building  leadership skills so that they can take action against gender-based discrimination and violence.

Young Adults: The engagement with 19 to 25 year olds empowers them to stay embedded in the community as agents of sustainable change.

Our socio-ecological model views the young person within a social context. This drives us to  engage with multiple stakeholders, from law officials and policy makers, to parents and educators, so that the change young people push for  is sustainable.

Our Deep transformation work is ushering change in 4 states:

  • Uttar Pradesh: Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Ghazipur, Maharajganj
  • Haryana: Rohtak, Panipat, Sonipat, Jhajjar, Karnal, Gurugram, Faridabad
  • Jharkhand: Hazaribagh
  • Delhi
