Breakthrough is looking for an Assistant Manager for its Media and Digital Programmes team. The role entails strong understanding of pop culture, media conversations and digital platforms, and is constantly tracking what’s trending, being debated and shaping narratives online. The ideal candidate should have a natural curiosity about films, OTT content, internet culture including social media, and an instinct for how pop culture shapes narratives around gender and representation. 

This role requires someone who lives and breathes digital culture – particularly platforms like Instagram and YouTube, enjoys analysing trends, viral moments, memes and conversations unfolding across the internet. The candidate will report to the Manager/Senior Manager – Media and Digital Programmes. 

The specific job responsibilities are mentioned below:

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Content Creation: 
  • Writing and editing captions, copies for all campaigns/content for social media;
  • Support in writing, editing blog content and management of BT blog;
  • Support in scripting and editing for long form content;
  • Support in ideation and execution for Breakthrough’s flagship products – Keeping It Feminist Podcast, Fursat Mein Serious Baatein Talk Show;
  • Contribute to the creation of pop culture commentary and analysis from a gender lens;
  • Pop culture reviews esp. Indian Cinema, OTT content.
  1. Pop Culture & Trend Analysis: 
  • Track and analyse pop culture conversations across films, OTT platforms, and digital media;
  • Monitor social media platforms—especially Instagram—to identify emerging trends, viral moments, and cultural conversations;
  • Stay updated on internet culture, memes, digital storytelling formats, and audience behaviour online. 
  1. Social Media Management: 
  • Creating online engagement plans and holding it for Breakthrough social media handles 
  • Manage social media platforms end-to-end including timely hygiene checks and active response to comments 
  • Building social media partnerships with other organisations for online collaborative events 
  1. Documentation: 
  • Create and maintain a process mapping documents and SOPs for all activities anchored starting from concept note, production material and final report that includes learning and insight. 

        

 Specific Knowledge, Skill & Experience Required:

  • Graduate with 5-7 years of experience in content creation, digital media and social media strategy;
  • Nuanced understanding of gender and intersectional feminist politics;
  • Strong communication, writing and research skills in English and Hindi;
  • Strong interest in pop culture, films, OTT content, and internet culture;
  • A deep familiarity with Instagram and other social platforms, with the ability to track trends, reels, meme cultures, and conversations.
