Breakthrough is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Manager to lead its Institutional Partnerships portfolio. The role entails managing and building existing donor relationships and contributing strategically to expand the IP donor base for the organisation. The role will require taking ownership of targets, end-to-end grant lifecycle from identifying high-value opportunities and leading complex proposal developments to ensuring strategic stewardship and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Leadership & Pipeline Development
- Contribute to and support the fundraising strategy for the institutional portfolio to meet annual revenue targets and long term organizational goals.
- Proactively scout and qualify new funding opportunities within the domestic and international landscape.
- Analyze global funding trends in gender rights and development to anticipate donor shifts and position Breakthrough as a preferred partner.
- Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary lead for high value donors, cultivate deep, strategic relationships beyond transactional reporting to foster long term partnerships;
- Represent Breakthrough at donor meetings, sector conferences and consortiums to articulate the organisation’s impact and value proposition effectively;
- Lead grant negotiations and contract reviews.
- Proposal Design & Grant Acquisition
- Lead the development of high quality, complex grant proposals and concept notes. This involves guiding the narrative and ensuring alignment with donor priorities.
- Collaborate with teams comprising Program, Finance and M&E to co-create proposals
Skills, Competencies & Experience Required:
- 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in institutional fundraising, business development or partnerships within the development sector;
- Proven success in securing and managing large-scale grants from diverse institutional donors;
- Deep understanding of the gender and human rights landscape. Previous experience in a gender rights organization is highly desirable;
- Strategic Thinking, ability to see the big picture, anticipate trends and translate organizational goals into fundraising strategies;
- Ability to lead without authority across cross-functional teams and influence external stakeholders;
- Superior grant writing and storytelling skills; ability to distill complex program concepts into compelling investment cases;
- Strong ability to understand project budgets, financial reporting and cost-recovery mechanisms;
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities with composure.
