BT’s petition against on screen violence on women in films.

Breakthrough has set up a petition to request the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the Central Board of Film Certification to run disclaimers on films that refer to have scenes of gender-based violence. Media and pop culture represent a stereotypical mindset that disregards the interests of women and highlights skewed gender norms.

Till date, this petition has gathered more than 2,30,000 signatures and has got good coverage through online media. The petition is being conducted in collaboration with Change.org. Actress Taapsee Pannu and the team behind the recent film ‘Thappad’ have extended their support to the petition as well.
